Our Evolution

For over 35 years, One Family Illinois, formerly SOS Children’s Villages Illinois, has kept siblings in foster care together in safe, loving homes led by full-time licensed foster parents. In 2024, we proudly embraced a new name and a renewed commitment to supporting more children by strengthening the communities that surround them, just like the ones that shaped us.

Today, we provide signature sibling foster care in village communities while offering innovative programs that help parents heal, access stable housing and employment, and create safe homes for children. This transformation is making a difference. Hundreds more children benefit from our expanded programs as we reach more families, restore communities, and build a stronger, safer Chicago.

“Our promise is to provide a bright future for every child in our care. By building the resilience, self-esteem, and hope for the youth entrusted to us, we’ve become an indispensable care provider in Illinois’ child welfare network, and I am so proud to lead the One Family team as they help our children heal and thrive.”

How We Lead the Way

At One Family Illinois, we help siblings in foster care stay together by supporting entire neighborhoods and their caregivers. We are the only organization in Chicagoland with full-time foster parents living within Village communities, where collaboration thrives and each home has access to case managers, clinical therapists, and enrichment opportunities. In addition, we offer family and community support services in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood and surrounding areas through our vibrant community site.

Our History

One Family Illinois has spent decades creating stable, nurturing environments where children in care can grow, heal, and thrive. As an independent 501(c)(3) since 1990, we’ve remained committed to keeping siblings together, empowering caregivers, and surrounding families with the support they need.
